What is the concurrent enrollment?
Concurrent Enrollment is college-level courses offered at the high school level to junior and seniors students during the regular school day.  Students can save time and money by earning both high school and college credits at the same time.

How does a student become registered and admitted to Salt Lake Community College?
Students complete the college admission application and pay the $40.00 admission fee.  This process is completed at the high school.  This one-time, non-refundable admission fee is good for at least one year and covers the cost of one English and one Math placement test.

How much does concurrent enrollment courses cost?
Beside the one-time, non-refundable admission fee of $40.00, the Salt Lake City School District charges a $25.00 textbook rental fee for each concurrent enrollment course.

What about college testing?
Testing may vary by college. SLCC does not require a high school diploma or college testing for admission.  However, placement tests are required for enrollment into English and Math courses.  Students may use scores from the ACT, SAT, or CPT testing programs for placement into these courses.

How are the CPT placement results used?
Enrollment into English and Math courses are based on the scores of each of these placement tests.  Students are usually given their initial CPT test at the Career and Technical Center in the spring.

Do other concurrent enrollment courses require placement testing?
No, only English and Math courses require placement testing.  All other concurrent enrollment courses can be taken without placement testing.

How are the concurrent enrollment courses graded?
Concurrent enrollment courses are graded in the same way the course would be graded if taken at the college campus.  The grade for the high school is the same as the college grade.  Students receive 1.00 high school credit for a three credit hour course.
